Why Functional Skills qualifications are important? https://www.intechcentre.com/why-functional-skills-qualifications-are-important/ Thu, 23 Feb 2023 15:38:20 +0000 http://intechcentre.com/?p=10656

Why Functional Skills qualifications are important?

Functional skills qualifications are designed to be an alternative to the traditional GCSE route. This qualification offers learners an alternative route in to education. Over the last few years Functional Skills have been used as a gateway to in to many other pathways that were closed off for the learner due to a lack of qualifications.

This qualification has made it easier for individuals to upskill themselves and in turn allows them to enter to different work places and to enter higher education. An example of this can be seen when NHS sends their employees who hold more junior roles to become fully registered nurses. Some of the employees are not eligible due not having GCSE’s but due to the availability of Functional Skills Math and English which are seen to be the more accessible and practical option. So individuals can enrol at any point on to a Functional Skills Maths and Functional Skills English course and allow themselves to enrol and progress in life.

There are also many young adults who are able to utilise the unconventional structure of a syllabus which is very restrictive in the sense of when you can learn and how you can learn. The teaching model for GCSEs is traditionally structured with a fixed syllabus, a teacher in a class room environment and fixed dates for learning and exam.

Functional Skills Maths and English courses allow the individuals to enrol and learn when they want as the courses and materials are online. This means that learners can access their learning materials and base it around their lives and be able to balance their everyday life without it hindering their studies.

Overall it can be seen that Functional Skills qualifications do hold value as they allow learners to study and improve themselves through upskilling or gaining employment. So if you want to take part in Functional Skills courses or take Online Functional Skills exams why not contact us now.
